Ah, the sketchbook… whether it be filled with lists, notes, doodles, detailed illustrations, or aggressive charts… we all use our sketchbooks differently. As people who work primarily on the computer (whether it be creative or code) sometimes, going back to the ol' pen and paper can be a helpful exercise to sort out what's going on in our heads. Other times, sketching happens out of boredom or just to pass the time… Either way, at Redhead, we all have unique ways of sketchbook expression.
Amy Moore
Amy's sketchbook contains clusters of sketches, doodles and to-dos. On this page, she has a fiercely strict schedule for the day and some thoughts about a magazine cover. It's obvious Amy is productive and creative all at the same time.
Elise Androkites
Elise is still a student, which means her sketchbook is a popouri of sketches, notes, lists, and doodles. On these particular pages, she has a whole lotta notes on branding and identity as well as some early logo sketches for a current brand development project.
Jen Estill
Inside Jen's sketchbook, she plays with creative typography. At her son's request, she has sketches of his name for a possible bedroom mural. She's also saved a fortune that reads, “you have an active mind and a keen imagination,” …like she needs a cookie to remind her of that!
Jessy Harger
Jessy's sketchbook contains fun sketches she has done for clients, like the eye-shaped typographic pattern she created for Sparrow. She has also created some whimsical illustrations, like a friendly little owl character she sketched up for fun. Wouldn't you love to see that little fella on some cute stationary?
Jake Johns
While Jake doesn't exactly keep a "sketchbook," you will find plenty of doodles in the margins of the papers that gather on his desk; he seems to favor the pink ledger paper best. Jake also has drawn up a chart, which he has used several times to aid him in explanations of social order. Note the emphatic circling marks on the page.
Dario Corsi
We marvel at Dario's drawings—as he is Redhead's illustrator. His sketchbook is full of quirky character drawings that make us chuckle. You'll find anything from a Spartan rodent taking a stab at some cheese… to a happy, dancing California raisin, ha, whatever happened to those guys?
Nathan Sharp
Lastly, Nate. Nate has the cleanest workspace you've ever seen and rarely wastes a bit of paper. Inside his tidy sketchbook are some cool line drawings done in ink. He has also carefully drawn some typography, including a lovely ampersand. Who doesn't love a great ampersand?
