Holiday cards are kind of a dime a dozen in our business. The year end is coming, so you craft a fun message, design a nice looking bit, slap it on a card, stuff it in an envelope and go. Once in a while though, a holiday card allows you the opportunity to make a mark.
In helping to launch a long-term rebranding and awareness campaign for Fenner Nature Center, we needed to accomplish several goals: 1) continue to incrementally introduce the new visual face of Fenner, 2) begin to assert the developing personality of this Lansing gem, 3) get people to pay attention to this underutilized resource in their least utilized season, and 4) communicate Fenner's mission of combining education and a connection with nature in an urban environment.
That's kind of a lot to do in one itty bitty card.
In the end though, we produced a card that's succinct and minimal. We have a happy client, and the thing got some good press. (After nearly 15 years in this business, I can't say that I ever remember a holiday card getting press.) All that makes this little project feel like a victory.
